Sainte-Dorothée is a neighborhood in western Laval, Quebec, named in honor of Dorothée of Caesarea.

On August 9, 1869, the municipality of Sainte-Dorothée was formed by detachment from the parish of Saint-Martin.

The municipality of Sainte-Dorothée parish had already split in 1947; faced with the prospect of a tax increase, the village of Sainte-Dorothée incorporated as a municipality. Twelve years later, in 1959, the municipalities of the parish and village of Sainte-Dorothée were united to form the town of Sainte-Dorothée.

The area is generally made up of residential neighborhoods, farmland and woodlands. Several major shopping centers are located along Highway 13. Sainte-Dorothée includes most of the only permanent agricultural land on the West Island.

Sainte-Dorothée is bounded by Laval-sur-le-Lac to the west, Laval-Ouest to the northwest, Fabreville to the northeast, Chomedey to the east and Îles-Laval and Rivière des Prairies.
