Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve is a borough of the city of Montreal. Covering an area of 24.5 km², it will have a population of 140,411 in 2021, with a population density of 5,528 inhabitants per km². It is the Montreal borough with the highest number of people who speak French exclusively at home (85%) at the 2016 census.
It comprises three main neighborhoods: Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Mercier-Ouest and Mercier-Est (also known as Tétreaultville). The borough lies to the east of the city of Montreal, along the St. Lawrence River. Highway 25 crosses it between Mercier-Ouest and Mercier-Est.
Although the territory of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve is made up of many smaller neighborhoods, the borough is generally recognized as being made up of three major districts: Hochelaga-Maisonneuve to the west, Mercier-Ouest in the center and Tétreaultville (or Mercier-Est) to the east.
